Ranking Member Courtney Statement on New $1.3B Contract Award for Electric Boat

NORWICH, CT - Today, Congressman Joe Courtney (CT-02), Ranking Member of the House Seapower and Projection Forces Subcommittee, released the following statement on the U.S. Navy's new $1.3 billion contract medication award for Electric Boat.

"This new contract award will support Electric Boat's development and design work on Virginia-class submarines," Courtney said. "It comes at a time rapid growth and expansion at Electric Boat across Groton, New London, and now Waterford at the former Crystal Mall. Ultimately, the overdue full construction contract award for Block VI Virginia-class submarines is needed to maintain a strong demand signal and the growth trajectory for submarine construction. Congress authorized that contract in 2023, and I will continue pressing for its delivery from the Navy."
