Credit unions and their business partners kicked off the 2026 Credit Union Cherry Blossom 10 Mile Run Sunday by presenting a $506,000 donation from Credit Union Miracle Day to Children's Miracle Network (CMN) Hospitals.
Since becoming the title sponsor in 2002, credit unions have raised more than $12.5 million for CMN through Credit Union Miracle Day (CUMD). These funds go directly to local CMN hospitals, helping deliver life-saving treatments and critical care to children in communities across the country.
"This decades-long partnership with the Race highlights the incredible impact credit unions can make when we come together-changing the lives of children and families nationwide," said CUMD Board Chair John Bratsakis. "Every dollar raised delivers hope and reinforces our commitment to the communities we serve."
The donation was presented by CUMD Board Members, alongside representatives from lead sponsors Velera, TruStage, and Visa. America's Credit Unions was also on-hand as a supporter.
Capitol Hill Competition
The annual Capitol Hill Competition, sponsored by Congressional FCU and United States Senate FCU, with support from America's Credit Unions, once again brought friendly rivalry to the Race. House and Senate offices formed teams to compete for the coveted Capitol Hill Cup, awarded to the team with the fastest combined time.
This year, 150 teams and more than 1,000 Congressional staffers participated. The unofficial winner: "The Dean's Team" from U.S. Representative Hal Rogers' (Kentucky) office.
By the Numbers: A Community Effort
The race weekend showcased the scale and spirit of the credit union community:
Funds raised through Credit Union Miracle Day support Children's Miracle Network hospitals, which treat more than 10 million children each year, regardless of their families' ability to pay.
