At the invitation of the People's Government of the Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region (GZAR), on April 9, 2026, Secretary-General of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization Nurlan Yermekbayev paid a working visit to Nanning, the administrative center of the GZAR.
During the visit the Secretary-General visited the China-ASEAN Commodity Collection and Distribution Center, established on the basis of the China-Singapore International Logistics Park. He toured the national pavilions featuring product samples from various countries, including Pakistan, Cambodia, Myanmar, and Laos. Discussions were held on opportunities to expand joint projects aimed at promoting goods from SCO member states.

At the Beibu Gulf Port Group Corporation, Nurlan Yermekbayev, accompanied by Chairman of the Board Hu Huaping, viewed an exhibition highlighting the port's growing role in the development of China's New Western Land-Sea Corridor. An exchange of views took place on potential areas of cooperation between SCO member states and this port group to improve transport connectivity with Southeast Asian states, ASEAN, and access to southern maritime routes.

At the China-ASEAN Artificial Intelligence Cooperation Center, solutions were presented for integrating cost-effective computing power, advanced research centers, and platforms for implementing AI projects in ASEAN countries. The parties noted the advisability of developing linkages between this center and the China-SCO Artificial Intelligence Cooperation Center.
