MoDOT closes I-70 ramps at Rte T/W starting Aug. 19 to convert Foristell interchange to divergeabout

ST. CHARLES COUNTY - Crews with the Improve I-70 Warrenton to Wentzville Project will c onvert the Interstate 70 and Route T/W interchange in Foristell into a divergeabout interchange starting Wednesday, August 19 . All work is weather permitting.

Crews will close all ramps at the interchange starting Wednesday, August 19 at 11 p.m. to install signs and restripe the interchange. The North Outer Road and Veterans Memorial Parkway will remain open during the work, although a flagger will direct traffic through intersections. Route T, Route W, Veterans Memorial Parkway and the North Outer Road will not be able to access I-70 in either direction nor cross the interstate.

When the ramps reopen Thursday, August 20 at 4 a.m., this interchange will have a new traffic pattern which will require drivers to make adjustments. Most importantly, traffic flow will significantly change on the new bridges, opposite of the current conditions. Northbound traffic will use the western bridge and southbound traffic will use the eastern bridge. Drivers should follow roundabout rules by making only right-hand movements when entering or exiting and by yielding to vehicles already in the roundabout.

Since traffic flow will be significantly different after the shift, drivers should slow down and pay attention as they travel through the divergeabout and follow the work zone signs through the interchange. Please be patient as other drivers are learning the new configuration.

To access Route T and Veterans Memorial Parkway from westbound I-70:

  • Use the westbound I-70 ramp to exit at Foristell (Exit 203).
  • Use the left lane to make a left turn, while yielding to traffic heading south.
  • Travel south across the new eastern bridge.
  • Use the southern roundabout and exit to the right to Route T or Veterans Memorial Parkway.

To access Route W and the North Outer Road from eastbound I-70.

  • Use the eastbound I-70 ramp to exit at Foristell (Exit 203).
  • Use the left turn to make a left turn, while yielding to traffic heading north.
  • Travel north across the new western bridge.
  • Use the north roundabout and exit to the right to Route W or the North Outer Road.

Motorists are encouraged to pay attention in work zones, drive the posted work zone speed limit, and allow extra time for travel. All work is weather-dependent, and schedules are subject to change.

This work is part of the second project in MoDOT's Statewide Improve I-70 Program. Improve I-70: Warrenton to Wentzville is a $600 million Design-Build project that will improve the 20-mile stretch of I-70 between Warrenton and Wentzville. The project was awarded to the Improve 70 Alliance team in November 2024. Construction is anticipated to be complete by the end of 2028.

Missouri's FY2024 budget, approved through the state legislative process and signed into law by the governor, provides $2.8 billion in General Revenue to build a third lane of I-70 across the state. The program will plan, design, construct, reconstruct, rehabilitate, and add a third lane in each direction on nearly 200 miles of I-70, from Blue Springs to Wentzville.
