MINISTRY OF FOREIGN AFFAIRS AND THE MALAYSIA
COMPETITION COMMISSION (MyCC) SIGN LETTER OF UNDERSTANDING (LoU)
3 JULY 2026
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs (KLN) today signed a Letter of Understanding (LoU) with the Malaysia Competition Commission (MyCC) to strengthen the integrity of procurement processes and combat bid-rigging cartels in government procurement.
The signing ceremony, held at Wisma Putra, was preceded by a courtesy call by the Chairman of MyCC Tan Sri Dato' Sri Idrus bin Harun, on the Secretary-General of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Tan Sri Amran Mohamed Zin.
This strategic partnership ensures a more transparent, competitive, and uncorrupted procurement process. Through this partnership, MyCC will provide technical advisory services and assessment reports to help identify early indicators of potential bid-rigging in KLN's procurement activities. Additionally, MyCC will provide periodic training to KLN procurement officers on cartel detection and prevention techniques, as well as assist in monitoring risks to healthy competition in accordance with the provisions of the Competition Act 2010 [Act 712].
The signing of this LoU reflects KLN's continuous commitment to strengthening government governance and protecting public funds from unethical practices. This initiative is also in line with the nation's aspiration to cultivate a culture of healthy competition in public procurement.
