Within the framework of his working visit to Turkmenistan, President of the Republic Vahagn Khachaturyan met with the President of the Republic of Iraq Abdul Latif Jamal Rashid.
During the meeting, the sides discussed a wide range of issues related to the Armenia-Iraq bilateral relations agenda.
The presidents emphasized the importance of continued efforts aimed at the dynamic development of Armenian-Iraqi relations, the expansion of political dialogue based on mutual trust, and the deepening of practical cooperation.
The interlocutors exchanged views on initiatives implemented toward regional security, the establishment of peace, and the strengthening of stability. President Vahagn Khachaturyan presented the vision of the "Crossroads of Peace" initiative, highlighting its significant potential as a pillar for regional connectivity, interconnectedness, and inclusive economic development.
In this context, the sides noted that regional stability and interconnectedness are crucial for expanding transport and economic opportunities. The importance of implementing the TRIP project and fully operating all communication routes was emphasized.
Special attention was also paid to the potential for cooperation in the energy sector, the effective implementation of which could become an important achievement for both countries.
The sides highlighted the expansion of bilateral economic cooperation, emphasizing the deepening of collaboration in trade, investment, and other areas of mutual interest, as well as the continuous encouragement of initiatives aimed at strengthening business ties.
Organizational and substantive issues related to the COP-17 Conference of the UN Convention on Biological Diversity, to be held in Armenia in 2026, were also discussed. Both sides stressed the importance of hosting such high-level international events as key platforms for overcoming global environmental challenges and deepening international cooperation.
The sides positively assessed the dynamics of high-level mutual visits that has developed in recent years and the high level of political dialogue, emphasizing the importance of continuously advancing these trends.
