For this new edition of Mindblowers, VUB and KVS join forces as part of Próximamente. Belgian and Latin American academics and artists will explore the concept of ghost memory: how memory and reality are constructed, rediscovered and reimagined from different perspectives.

Taking the stage are, among others, Claudix Vanesix, an artist working on Andean futurism, and Claudia Poblete, a member of the leadership team of the Abuelas de Plaza de Mayo. Together with VUB experts, they will discuss the stories, experiences and histories that continue to shape our lives, even when they seem to have faded from view.

Representing VUB are Yazan Badran, Adriana Moreno-Cely and Laura Vandewynckel. Their research and artistic practice engage with themes such as media and diaspora, decolonial knowledge production, collective consciousness, and the role of storytelling in how we understand both our past and our future.
