Spain: African Swine Fever Hits Wild Fauna in Spain

On November 28, 2025, Spain confirmed its first outbreak of African Swine Fever (ASF) since 1994, after two wild boars tested positive near Cerdanyola del Vallès, Catalonia. Spain's veterinary authorities have responded swiftly to contain the outbreak and secure market access for Spanish pork products. To date, the number of wild boars tested positive amounts to 16, all of them found in the initial 6-km perimeter established. No commercial operations have been affected.
