DENVER - Denver's Department of Transportation and Infrastructure (DOTI) would like the public to be aware of efforts underway to support transportation infrastructure improvements that will require lane and street closures to perform the work safely. DOTI encourages people to give themselves a little extra time to navigate these closures and appreciates the public's patience.

Lane Closures on 56^th Avenue between Tower Road and Peña Blvd

On August 27^th there will be single lane closures that will occur on 56^th Avenue to install a water line and include modification of the median. Beginning at 7 a.m., August 28, and lasting until August 31, at 5 a.m., there will be a full closure of the westbound lanes of 56^th Ave between Tower Road and Peña Blvd and one lane open for eastbound traffic on 56th. Travelers will be detoured to E 47^th Avenue to access Peña Blvd or Tower Road. Detour routes will be posted. Following the full closure, from August 31^st to September 9^th, 56^th Avenue will revert to a single lane closure, in both east and westbound directions to complete the work.

Lane Closures on Stretch of Park Avenue West

DOTI is working along a stretch of Park Avenue West from Welton Street to the intersection of 20^th and Washington streets for the next few weeks, milling and paving the roadway to provide a smooth surface. Crews will work to keep one lane of travel open in each direction.

Starting Next Week: Lane Closures on Auraria Parkway

Beginning Monday, August 31, DOTI crews will be removing and replacing sections of concrete panels and patching pavement beginning at Blake Street and Speer Boulevard, continuing west on Auraria Parkway to 11^th Street. The far righthand lane of Auraria Parkway heading west will be closed August 31- September 2. Two travel lanes will remain open. Travelers will encounter a two-lane closure of Auraria Parkway September 8-10 with one lane remaining open.

Starting Next Week: Closure of Stout Street for Fire Suppression System Maintenance

Systems maintenance work will be starting next week outside the Colorado Convention Center, requiring a full, temporary closure of Stout Street from Speer Boulevard to 14^th Street starting September 1, 2026, through mid-March 2027. Denver is taking advantage of the current closure of the RTD light rail station at 14^th and Stout streets to replace a portion of the exterior fire sprinkler system that runs along Stout Street outside the convention center. The replacement will provide exterior fire protection for this portion of the convention center for the next 50 years.

Sidewalk access along Stout Street will be maintained for Bellco Theatre events during the maintenance project. Nearby alternate routes for drivers include:
