This summer, Chateau Ste. Michelle, Washington's founding winery, introduces two new wines that showcase the quality and diversity of Washington wine: Chateau Ste. Michelle 2024 Evergreen Vineyard Riesling and Chateau Ste. Michelle 2024 Columbia Valley Red Blend.
The new wines are part of Chateau Ste. Michelle's continued evolution in 2026, marked by refreshed packaging, ongoing investment in wine quality, and enhanced guest experiences at the winery's historic Woodinville estate.
Evergreen Vineyard Riesling
Sourced from one of Washington's most esteemed Riesling sites, Evergreen Vineyard Riesling is a crisp, dry expression that captures the purity and precision of the Ancient Lakes AVA. The wine showcases vibrant notes of lime and blood orange, delicate floral aromas, and a pronounced mineral edge. It will be available at select fine wine retailers with a suggested retail price of $29.
Evergreen Vineyard was established more than a decade before the Ancient Lakes AVA earned official recognition in 2012. Its proximity to the Columbia River moderates temperatures and allows for extended hang time, resulting in naturally high acidity and exceptional balance. Missoula Flood-carved soils of Quincy loam over caliche further contribute to the wine's freshness, structure, and distinctive minerality.
As one of Washington's premier Riesling vineyards, Evergreen Vineyard has played a key role in Chateau Ste. Michelle's storied Riesling legacy. Widely recognized as one of the world's leading Riesling producers, Chateau Ste. Michelle has spent nearly 60 years championing the Riesling category through site-driven wines and diverse styles that showcase Washington's unique growing conditions and its ability to produce world-class Riesling. This single-vineyard release reflects that longstanding commitment while spotlighting one of the state's most acclaimed Riesling sites.
"We have blended with Evergreen Riesling for many years, and we honestly believe it is one of the best Riesling vineyards in North America," said Katie Nelson, Ste. Michelle's VP of Winemaking. "The fruit from this site delivers remarkable natural acidity and balance, with a sense of freshness, precision, and pure Washington character. We're excited to showcase the quality and personality of this site as a single-vineyard wine."
Columbia Valley Red Blend
While the region is celebrated for its acclaimed aromatic white wines, Washington's Columbia Valley is equally renowned for bold, balanced, and expressive red wines. The Chateau Ste. Michelle Columbia Valley Red Blend celebrates the depth and diversity of the region through a thoughtfully composed blend of its leading red varieties.
Full-bodied and richly layered, the wine offers notes of raspberry and cherry, supported by velvety tannins and a long, polished finish. The blend features 51% Syrah, 20% Cabernet Sauvignon, 11% Grenache, 7% Malbec, 6% Mourvèdre, and 5% Cinsault, sourced from vineyards across the Columbia Valley, including the Wahluke Slope, Horse Heaven Hills, and Yakima Valley AVAs. The wine is available nationally with a suggested retail price of $17.
Situated in the rain shadow of the Cascade Mountains, the Columbia Valley benefits from abundant sunshine, cool nights, and diverse volcanic soils, ideal conditions for producing wines of balance, structure, and complexity.
"One of the joys of making a red blend is the freedom it gives our winemaking team to focus on one goal: making the most delicious wine possible," says Nelson. "Our Columbia Valley Red Blend does just that while beautifully representing the diversity of the region. Cooler sites contribute vibrant acidity and pure fruit flavors, while warmer sites add concentration and body. This wine is truly the total package."
