Sen. RaShaun Kemp Appointed Chair of LGBTQ+ Caucus

ATLANTA (October 10, 2025) - ATLANTA (October 10, 2025) - Ahead of this weekend's celebration of 55 years of Atlanta Pride, the LGBTQ+ Caucus named Sen. RaShaun Kemp (D-Atlanta) as its new chair.

"It is an honor to serve as Chair of the Georgia LGBTQ+ Caucus and to continue the important work started by my friend and colleague, Minority Whip Sen. Kim Jackson (D-Stone Mountain)," said Sen. Kemp. "As the first openly gay member to serve in the Georgia State Senate and a freshman legislator, I do not take this responsibility lightly. Our caucus is committed to ensuring that every Georgian is free to live openly, without fear of hate or discrimination. I look forward to using this platform to elevate the voices of LGBTQ+ Georgians and keep equality at the center of our work."

The caucus's mission is to promote, support and defend equality and freedom for all Georgians to live their authentic lives. Additional members of the LGBTQ+ Caucus include House Minority Whip Rep. Sam Park (D-Lawrenceville), Rep. Park Cannon (D-Atlanta), Rep. Karla Drenner (D-Avondale Estates) and Rep. Marvin Lim (D-Norcross).
