Boy, 13, Shot and Injured on a Sidewalk in the St. Johns Neighborhood

A thirteen-year-old boy is in the hospital with serious injuries following a shooting in the St. Johns Neighborhood, and Portland Police Officers and Detectives are actively investigating.

On Wednesday, July 15, 2026 at 8:53 p.m., Portland Police Officers assigned to North Precinct and the Focused Intervention Team responded to a report of a shooting in the 9100 block of North Burr Avenue. When they arrived, they found a juvenile male victim, age 13, with multiple gunshot wounds. He was given trauma first aid at the scene and transported by ambulance to a hospital. His prognosis is currently unknown. The initial investigation suggests the shooting happened on a sidewalk.

The suspect or suspects left the scene before police arrived and no immediate arrests were made.

Detectives with the Enhanced Community Safety Team (ECST) are responding to the scene to investigate the shooting. During the investigation, North Burr Avenue is closed between North Smith Street and North Central Street.
