Dr. Jamie Carr, assistant provost at Niagara University, will present "Women in the Niagara Frontier," on Monday, Sept. 29, at 6 p.m. at the Niagara Falls Underground Railroad Heritage Center, 825 Depot Avenue West, Niagara Falls, N.Y. 14305.
The presentation, which is free and open to the public, will draw from her extensive research in place-based historical contexts and her expertise in situating authors and figures within their regional settings.
Dr. Carr is the author of "Niagaras of Ink: Famous Writers at the Falls," a book that preserves the literary and cultural heritage of Niagara Falls through historical travel essays and anecdotes, and of "Queer Times: Christopher Isherwood's Modernity," as well as several scholarly articles and book chapters on the 20th century Anglo-American writer.
Dr. Carr joined Niagara University in 2007 as a member of the English faculty. She holds a Ph.D. in English from the University of Rhode Island, an M.A. in English from Northeastern University, and a B.A. in English from the State University of New York at Potsdam College.
