Synthesia Nitrocellulose posts profit of CZK286m at end-2025

Pardubice, East Bohemia, July 27 (CTK) - Synthesia Nitrocellulose, a company formed by spinning off the nitrocellulose production division from the Synthesia chemical plant, reported a net profit of CZK286m for the period from September 1 to December 31, 2025, according to the company's annual report.

Sales of products and services amounted to CZK1.334bn and sales of goods to about CZK1m.

In the first eight months of 2025, the newly formed company reported a loss of CZK174,000, which is related to its gradual split from the parent company.

Operating profit at the end of last year was CZK443m. "Net profit was affected by the impact of the ratio of current to deferred corporate income tax," said company representatives Jan Drahota and Daniel Tamchyna. Current tax amounted to CZK157m, while deferred tax was CZK46m.

Exports accounted for 69 percent of total sales last year. According to company management, this significant dependence on exports means that sales results are highly sensitive to exchange rate fluctuations.

At the end of last year, the company had 389 employees.

Synthesia Nitrocellulose was founded in December 2024. It was established by spinning off the nitrocellulose production division from the Synthesia chemical plant, which belongs to the Kaprain Group owned by businessman Karel Prazak, into a separate company. Last year, arms maker Colt CZ Group SE acquired a 51 percent stake, completing the acquisition this past January. The remaining stake remains owned by Synthesia.

Nitrocellulose serves as a raw material for the production of gunpowder.
