The wait is over. Buc-ee's officially opened its first Arizona location this morning in Goodyear at Interstate 10 and Bullard Avenue, welcoming dignitaries, including Gov. Katie Hobbs, and thousands of visitors for a celebratory ribbon-cutting ceremony.
"Today marks an exciting milestone for Goodyear as we welcome Buc-ee's," said Mayor Joe Pizzillo. "Buc-ee's will bring new jobs, attract visitors from across the region and further strengthen Goodyear's position as a premier destination for business, tourism and quality of life."
"Today's opening is so exciting, not just for the city of Goodyear but the state of Arizona," said Gov. Hobbs. "Buc-ee's could have chosen to invest anywhere, but they chose Arizona because we have economic momentum, we have the workforce, we have the infrastructure, and we absolutely have the excitement."
The highly anticipated destination is expected to draw visitors from across Arizona and neighboring states, with as many as 40,000 vehicles anticipated throughout opening week. City departments, public safety personnel and partner agencies have spent months preparing for the grand opening to help ensure a safe and successful experience for residents and visitors alike.
Visitors traveling to Buc-ee's during opening week should expect heavy traffic, extended wait times and hot summer temperatures. Guests are encouraged to plan ahead, stay hydrated, wear sun protection and allow extra travel time.
