NorthWestern Energy Urges Customers to Stay Safe as Strong Cold Front Approaches Western Montana

Missoula, Mont. - Dec. 16, 2025 - The U.S. Weather Service in Missoula is forecasting a strong cold front with powerful winds moving into Western Montana. NorthWestern Energy reminds customers to stay safe and prepared before, during, and after the storm.

NorthWestern Energy is prepared with staffing and equipment to respond as quickly and safely as possible to any outages caused by the storm.

Before the Storm: Prepare Now

  • Charge devices: Make sure cell phones and other essential electronics are fully charged.
  • Gather supplies: Stock up on water, non-perishable food, flashlights, batteries, and necessary medications.
  • Check emergency kits: Include blankets, first-aid supplies, and items for pets.

During the Storm: Stay Safe

  • Stay indoors: Avoid going outside during high winds and icy conditions.
