Carey Olsen has been named Digital Assets Practice of the Year at the 2025 STEP Private Client Awards, taking top spot in one of the most contested categories of the evening.
Carey Olsen is one of the few offshore law firms with a dedicated focus on digital assets and has advised on many innovative digital asset projects, including the launch of the first Bitcoin investment fund, the first Ethereum denominated fund and the world's first digital asset exchange traded fund, as well as ground-breaking trading platforms, digital asset issuances, digital asset denominated insurance products, decentralised finance (DeFi) protocols and decentralised autonomous organisations (DAOs).
Led by partners Steven Rees Davies, Chris Duncan, Chris Griffin, Elizabeth Killeen, Richard Munden and Matthew Brehaut, the firm's digital assets specialists are also increasingly advising on the tokenisation of traditional financial assets on a blockchain infrastructure and have successfully advised on the launch and development of offshore structures which employ permissioned tokens, or "smart contracts".
