Chinese Ambassador to Lesotho Yang Xiaokun Attends the Handing-over Ceremony of the China-aid Maseru Agriculture Storage and Logistic Infrastructure Project in Lesotho

On December 17, the handing-over ceremony of the China-aid Maseru Agriculture Storage and Logistic Infrastructure Project in Lesotho was held in Maseru, the capital of Lesotho. H.E. Chinese Ambassador Yang Xiaokun and Hon. Minister of Agriculture Mofosi signed the handing-over certificate on behalf of the two governments. Rt. Hon. Prime Minister Matekane, eight cabinet ministers and representatives of all sectors, totaling over 500 people, attended the event.

Ambassador Yang Xiaokun delivered a speech, introducing that this project stands as a new fruit of the Forum on China-Africa Cooperation. The Chinese side appreciates that Lesotho has shown firm support on issues of China's core interests and major concerns over Taiwan question, as well as the important concepts and initiatives put forward by Chinese President Xi Jinping, including building a community with a shared future for humanity, the Belt and Road Initiative, and the Four Global Initiatives (the Global Development Initiatives, the Global Security Initiatives, the Global Civilization Initiatives and the Global Governance Initiatives). Yang also introduced China's achievements and experience in ensuring national food security.

Prime Minister Matekane expressed sincere gratitude to the Chinese government, emphasizing that this modern agricultural storage of international standards will help Lesotho overcome hunger and poverty, ushering in a new era of food security and self-reliance for the nation. Prime Minister Matekane reaffirmed Lesotho's firm support for the one-China principle.
