On Friday, President Claudia Sheinbaum spoke by phone with Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney. The two leaders held wide-ranging discussions on the various items on their shared agenda.
They highlighted the results of Canada's largest-ever trade mission to Mexico, which will strengthen economic ties in priority sectors. They also acknowledged the progress made under the Mexico-Canada Action Plan following the Prime Minister's visit last September.
President Sheinbaum noted that in the coming weeks a Mexican delegation will travel to Canada to broaden the trade dialogue, explore investment opportunities, promote Mexican businesses, and strengthen ties between the private sectors of both countries.
The two leaders also discussed the challenges posed by the current geopolitical environment, exchanged views on the economic situation, and reviewed the work both countries have been doing ahead of the review of the United States-Mexico-Canada Agreement (USMCA).
The call concluded with both leaders committing to continue advancing the roadmap that Mexico and Canada are following to further deepen bilateral cooperation and friendship at this important moment in the diplomatic relationship.
