'Rocket Launch' in Shougang Park: Beijing Space Exploration Center Unveiled

On July 29, the "Shou - Wang Tian Gong" Beijing Space Exploration Center ("首·望天宫"北京太空探索中心) opened by Xiuchi Lake in Shougang Park.

The venue spans 4,000 square meters. Inside, Xiuchi Exhibition Hall showcases real rocket debris that has withstood temperatures of up to 3,000 degrees Celsius, a massive Mars probe parachute, and "space pumpkins" produced through space breeding. Together, these exhibits bring China's aerospace achievements to life and demonstrate how advanced space technologies can be applied in practice.

The "Tiangong Tour" (天宫巡游) themed hall features an innovative dual-perspective interactive model, allowing visitors to experience both teamwork inside a spacecraft and extravehicular operations in space. Meanwhile, the "Astronaut's Home" (宇航员之家) offers a panoramic view of the daily work and life of astronauts in space. Visitors can also check out the "Moon Palace Project No. 56" (广寒宫第五十六号计划) themed hall, which recreates lunar craters and Sinus Iridum at full scale, delivering a stunning, realistic lunar research experience.

At the Satellite Command and Control Center (卫星指挥控制中心), visitors can take part in an exciting countdown, witness the moment of ignition, and complete a simulated space mission. The 7D interstellar flight theater and AR/VR hyper-sensory theater offer visitors immersive experiences of weightlessness and flight.
