Gosar Presses DOI for Arizona Fairness in Water Fight
The new federal rules governing the Colorado River took effect October 1, but the fight over what they mean for Arizona is far from over.
As KJZZ reported, Arizona, California and Nevada are still working to finalize an agreement on how to divide the water reductions, with Arizona's cutbacks expected to take effect January 1. Under the federal framework, Arizona is slated to absorb 760,000 acre-feet of annual reductions-far more than California or Nevada.
That is why this week I called on Department of Interior Secretary Doug Burgum to ensure Arizona is treated fairly. Arizona has conserved water, invested in infrastructure, stored water and accepted reductions. We cannot continue solving a supply problem simply by telling Arizona to take another cut.
I will continue fighting to protect Arizona's water rights while pushing for the solutions that can actually increase our water supply-desalination, advanced water treatment, aquifer recharge, storage and new infrastructure. Arizona's farmers, families, businesses, military installations and manufacturers depend on reliable water, and I will continue making sure Arizona has a seat at the table as the Colorado River's future is decided.

Gosar: The Credit Card Has Been Declined
This week, I joined my conservative colleagues in the House Freedom Caucus, Reps. Andy Ogles and Randy Fine, to pen an op-ed in the Washington Examiner supporting President Trump's decision to cancel nearly $1 billion in unspent federal funding.
As I said when these cuts were announced, the Swamp's credit card has been declined. Washington has spent far too long treating hardworking Americans like an unlimited ATM, sending their money to wasteful programs, bloated bureaucracy and misguided priorities.
President Trump is right to make these rescissions. When Washington finds billions of dollars to spend on programs that do not serve the American people, Congress has a responsibility to say enough is enough. Cutting waste isn't about cutting services Americans depend on-it is about stopping Washington from spending money it doesn't have on things it shouldn't be funding.
Our national debt is approaching $40 trillion, and every dollar Washington spends comes from someone who earned it. The American people expect Congress to be good stewards of their money, not keep reaching for the credit card. The credit card has been declined-and it's time Washington learned to live within its means.

Democrats Think Congress Should Play by Different Rules
You really can't make this stuff up.
The House already passed the Stop Insider Trading Act, and I voted YES. The bill is simple: Members of Congress, their spouses, and dependent children shouldn't be buying individual stocks while Congress is making laws and decisions that can move the markets.
But when the bill reached the Senate this week, every single Senate Democrat voted against moving it forward. Not one Democrat would even allow the Senate to proceed with the bill.
Think about that. Americans expect their elected officials to serve the public-not use their positions in Washington to personally profit from the policies they write. That shouldn't be controversial. It should be common sense.
The House Republicans already did our part. We voted to stop the insider trading and restore some trust in Congress. Now the American people can see exactly who is standing in the way.

And Finally, With October Upon Us…
If you've ever wondered what the most popular Halloween candy was the year you were born, The Most Popular Halloween Candy the Year You Were Born From Reese's Peanut Butter Cups and Pop Rocks to Nerds and Sour Patch Kids, the list is a pretty good reminder that Halloween candy has changed-but kids' love of sugar hasn't.
As a dentist, I have only one piece of advice: enjoy the candy, but brush your teeth. After all, I spent 25 years practicing dentistry before coming to Congress. I know firsthand that a little prevention goes a long way-and that Halloween is no excuse to skip the toothbrush.
Oh - and save me a Reese's!
