Two Henderson State University ROTC cadets have earned the prestigious Reconnaissance Commando (RECONDO) Badge, an achievement awarded to cadets who demonstrate superior physical fitness and military skills at the Army's Advanced Camp.
Eduardo Maya, a senior from Grannis, Arkansas, and Kullen Bookout, a senior from Texarkana, Texas, will wear the badge after demonstrating mastery in land navigation, marksmanship, and warrior tasks, along with physical fitness.
"These cadets prepared for the rigorous and demanding conditions of Advanced Camp and achieved the highest levels of performance during Cadet Summer Training at Fort Knox, Kentucky," said Capt. James Flowers, assistant professor of military science.
Baylor Montgomery, a senior from Alton, Illinois, received the Strategic Resources Inc. High Performer Award, which is presented to male cadets who achieve the highest score on the Army Fitness Test at the summer training.
Maya and Bookout, along with Cadet Gavin William Rawls of Murfreesboro, Arkansas, also graduated from Air Assault school this summer.
"Upon graduation of the course, each soldier can perform the skills required to make maximum use of helicopter assets in training and in combat to support their unit operation," Flowers said.
Montgomery graduated from Airborne School at Fort Moore, Georgia, where he became jump-qualified.
