Secretary of State Diego Morales' Office Concludes

Statewide Public Meetings on Election Topics

INDIANAPOLIS- (October 16, 2025) -Indiana Secretary of State Diego Morales has concluded a series of informative public meetings on election issues. While state law required just three public hearings, Secretary Morales went well beyond that by hosting five, ensuring more Hoosiers had the opportunity to share their feedback. The meetings were livestreamed, and a portal was established to receive additional feedback from citizens.

As required by HEA 1633, signed into law earlier this year, the Secretary of State's Office conducted a series of statewide studies on two important election issues:

  • The timing of municipal elections, including the consideration of moving them to presidential or midterm election years.
  • Whether or not vote center voting should be implemented throughout the state.

"Under Secretary Morales' leadership, Indiana now ranks #7 in the nation for election integrity. These meetings are about listening to Hoosiers- because election integrity and voter confidence are priorities for my office. Hearing directly from local officials, voters, and community leaders helps us continue improving one of the strongest election systems in the country," said Diego Morales, Indiana Secretary of State.

Meetings were held in various regions across Indiana. Election Experts from the Voting System Technical Oversight Project at Ball State University presented detailed research data. Public questions and comments were received at each session and will be summarized for legislators to review.

Findings from meetings, election data collected from local election administrators, public comment summaries, and the US Election Assistance Commission's most recent Election Administration and Voting Survey (EAVS), will be compiled by the Secretary of State's office into a report for the Indiana General Assembly Legislative Council. The report will be posted online when completed.

Pictures from meetings can be found on Secretary Morales' social media platforms.
