National Library Week, April 19 to 25, is a time to celebrate the many ways libraries bring people together, spark imagination and support lifelong learning. From books and digital resources to job assistance and creative programming, libraries are essential to thriving communities.
Aurora Public Library invites everyone to join the celebration. Whether they are a longtime patron, a new neighbor, or haven't visited in a while, now is the perfect time to explore all the library has to offer. The library provides free Wi-Fi, digital collections, career workshops, makerspaces, STEAM programs, and more, ensuring that everyone has access to resources that educate, inspire and connect.
"National Library Week highlights the important impact of libraries in the quality of life of our community and the valuable contributions of library staff trough their dedicated work nurturing curiosity, capability, and confidence throughout all of life's chapters of our library patrons," said Ginger White Brunetti, director of Libraries and Cultural Services. Join special National Library Week events:
Musical Melodies: Wednesday, April 22, 10:30 a.m., Tallyn's Reach Library, 23911 E. Arapahoe Road. Join a special musical performance from Leroy Leonard and Lisa Mumpton. For children up to age 5.
Animal Bookmarks: Wednesday, April 22, 4:30 p.m., Mission Viejo Library, 15324 E. Hampden Circle. Make animal bookmarks that chomps the corner of your page. For ages 6 to 11.
Special Storytime: Thursday, April 23, 10:30 a.m., Mission Viejo Library, 15324 E. Hampden Circle. Enjoy stories and a fun craft. For children up to age 5.
"The Librarians:" Saturday, April 25, 10:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m., Central Library, 14949 E. Alameda Parkway. Through their stories, we see librarians not just as information providers, but as protectors of trust, democracy and civic connection. A partnership with Rocky Mountain PBS.
Shakespeare in the Parking Lot: Saturday, April 25, 2 p.m., Central Library, 14949 E. Alameda Parkway. Enjoy a free performance of "Romeo and Juliet" from Denver Center of the Performing Arts.
The Fascinating History of Libraries: Saturday, April 25, 2 p.m., Mission Viejo Library, 15324 E. Hampden Circle. Learn about the history of libraries form Mesopotamia to the present.
