City of Chattanooga and BlueCross BlueShield of Tennessee Foundation Announce BlueCross Healthy Place at Pavilion Park

Investment contributes additional amenities to Finley Stadium revitalization

CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. - Representatives from the City of Chattanooga, Finley Stadium Corporation, Hamilton County and the BlueCross BlueShield of Tennessee Foundation recently gathered to announce the development of the BlueCross Healthy Place at Pavilion Park.

Part of the ongoing revitalization of Finley Stadium, the BlueCross Healthy Place will add new amenities to the First Horizon Pavilion area surrounding the newly redesigned skate park. These will include:

  • Play area
  • Connective promenade
  • Boulder climbers
  • Airnasium (open-air roof structure over the skating rink)
  • Dog park
  • Shaded seating

"The BlueCross BlueShield of Tennessee Foundation is proud to help shape the Southside's next chapter," said Dalya Qualls White, executive director of the BlueCross Foundation. "The BlueCross Healthy Place at Pavilion Park will connect the stadium to new gathering and activity spaces around the pavilion, enhancing the experience for everyone who visits these spaces."

Partners from the City of Chattanooga and Finley Stadium Corporation added:

"Finley Stadium is proud to be a family friendly campus for everyone to enjoy, and we're grateful to the BlueCross Foundation for this opportunity to further invest in that mission, in partnership with the City of Chattanooga. As we approach the next chapter of our campus with the coming release of Finley 2.0, we look forward to showcasing our commitment to why this is 'Where Chattanooga Plays.'"

Brian Wright, executive director, Finley Stadium & First Horizon Pavilion

"Chattanooga is not just a city where people dream big - we roll up our sleeves and make the transformation happen. This BlueCross Healthy Place is a great anchor for a neighborhood on the cusp of revitalization, alongside the renovated skate and dog park, Finley Stadium and First Horizon Pavilion, all of which keep people moving so they can live healthy lives. Thanks especially to the BlueCross BlueShield of Tennessee Foundation for your support of our great city as we work to close the gaps in public health, and build One Chattanooga, together."

Chattanooga Mayor Tim Kelly

The project is expected to be completed in 2027 and will enhance community offerings as part of the ongoing Finley Stadium 2.0 initiative.

This is the fourth BlueCross Healthy Place in Chattanooga and, to date, the BlueCross Foundation has invested $12 million in projects locally. There are 29 BlueCross Healthy Place projects open or in progress statewide with more on the way.

The BlueCross BlueShield of Tennessee Foundation is a separate, independent entity from BlueCross BlueShield of Tennessee.
