A public hearing to consider the possible pardon of sentence for Ronald Stephens

The Michigan Parole Board will hold a public hearing on Thursday, June 18, 2026, at 9:00 a.m., to consider the possible pardon of sentence for Ronald Stephens. The hearing will be conducted via video using Microsoft Teams.

Those planning to access the hearing must complete the online registration form no later than June 16, 2026. Public hearing guidelines and access information can be found here.

Ronald Stephens was sentenced to a term of 40 years to 60 years (resentenced to 5 years, 6 months to 15 years) for the crime of Murder 2nd Degree. Ronald Stephens was sentenced on May 18, 1976 (resentenced in 1979), out of Wayne County.

Cynthia L. Garcia, Member of the Michigan Parole Board, will conduct the hearing under the provisions of MCLA 791.244 prior to any recommendation for executive clemency by the Parole Board.

This hearing is required by state law prior to consideration of any pardon by the Governor.
