BUCHANAN, MICHIGAN - The U.S. Chamber of Commerce today announced its endorsement of Rep. Tim Walberg for Michigan's Fifth Congressional District at a free enterprise event at Edgewater Automation in Buchanan. Walberg was also recognized with the Advocate for American Business Award by the Chamber for championing free enterprise policies that support opportunity, innovation, and economic growth. The event, hosted by Edgewater Automation, was a stop on the Chamber's Free Enterprise Express Opportunity Tour, a national six-week bus tour promoting free enterprise.
Rep. Walberg was joined by Neil Bradley, Executive Vice President and Chief Policy Officer at the U.S. Chamber of Commerce, Arthur Havlicek, President & CEO of the Southwest Michigan Regional Chamber, Mayor Pro-Tem Patrick Swem of the City of Buchanan, and Rick Blake, Owner, and Tim Tate, President of Edgewater Automation.
Edgewater Automation is a designer and builder of custom advanced automation equipment and manufactured structures and systems, including robotics, machine vision, motion control, automated test and data acquisition, and software control and management solutions for all manufacturing industries with over 250 employees in the Michigan region.
"I'm proud to have the U.S. Chamber of Commerce's endorsement for my record of fighting for Michigan workers, growing our economy, and creating new opportunities," said Rep. Walberg. "I'll continue working to deliver results for hardworking Michiganders by supporting job creation and restoring Michigan's reputation as a place where businesses can grow, workers can thrive, and families can build a future. Thank you to Edgewater Automation in Buchanan for hosting us and showcasing the innovation and hardworking people who make Michigan strong."
The U.S. Chamber endorses candidates for federal office who will support policies that drive innovation, grow the economy, and create opportunities for American businesses and workers.
"The U.S. Chamber is proud to be in Buchanan today to endorse Rep. Tim Walberg to represent Michigan's fifth district. During his time in Congress, Congressman Walberg has been a fighter for free enterprise policies that grow the economy and give local businesses, workers, and communities the tools they need to be successful and make Michigan stronger. Congressman Walberg has the Chamber's endorsement, and we look forward to continuing to work with him next Congress," said Neil Bradley, Executive Vice President and Chief Policy Officer at the U.S. Chamber of Commerce.
The national Free Enterprise Express Opportunity Tour is a six-week trip through 20 states and more than 50 events to make the case for free enterprise in communities across America and push back against growing support for government-directed economic policies that threaten economic freedom, opportunity, innovation, and growth.
The effort is part of a broader Chamber initiative, the New Fight for Free Enterprise, a multi-year effort to organize, mobilize, and make the case for free enterprise everywhere public opinion is shaped, public policy is made, and future generations learn what it takes for people and communities to thrive.
