Hon. Matthew Wiese of Marquette, a 1984 NMU alumnus and judge of the 25th Circuit Court, was reappointed by Gov. Gretchen Whitmer to the Michigan Domestic and Sexual Violence Prevention and Treatment Board. He graduated from NMU with a bachelor's degree in political science and psychology before earning his juris doctor from Vermont Law School.
According to a press release, the Michigan Domestic and Sexual Violence Prevention and Treatment Board "coordinates and monitors programs and services for the prevention of domestic and sexual violence and the treatment of victims of domestic and sexual violence."
The board also administers grants awarded under the Violence Against Women Act, the Family Violence Prevention and Services Act and other governmental and non-governmental entities.
Wiese's term expires Dec. 4, 2028.
