First eaglet spotted on UAS Eagle Cam

The first eaglet (Zip) was spotted out of its shell last Thursday morning, May 28, and later that day, it was first seen feeding. The second eaglet (Loc) hatched Friday afternoon May 29. Keep an eye on the latest action via the UAS Eagle Cam!

From the Eagle Journal (beneath the Eagle Cam on the UAS Campus Views page):

  • May 28, 2026: The first eaglet was spotted live by Abi Spofford of the Chancellor's Office at 6:51am.
  • May 28, 2026: First eaglet to hatch being fed. Remaining egg seen in video with tossed egg from this eaglet just out of frame. The second egg should hatch any time now, as they were laid two days apart.
  • May 29, 2026: Our second egg was spotted partially hatched today during a feeding at 3:55pm. In the frame is what appears to be another chicken leg, previous hatched egg, and our favorite ZipLoc bag.

  • 5/30/26: Chicken breakfast at 8:15am. Both Zip and Loc are shown being fed. At only a day it's becoming difficult to tell the two apart other than dominance. Meal time appears to be several times a day at this point.

The first eaglet hatched on May 28 and soon began feeding, pecking at food in its parent's beak.
