Week's events: 'Bear' Edson, leg pain, film archives, American roots music
University of Alaska Fairbanks Summer Sessions and Lifelong Learning is hosting more than 40 free lectures, concerts and events this summer. Here's what's happening during the week of June 8-14:

On Monday, June 8, the Fairbanks Tall Timbers interview series will honor Darrin "Bear" Edson, UAF operations superintendent emeritus. The interview is at 7 p.m. in the BP Design Theater.

On Tuesday, June 9, the Healthy Living lecture series will host Mark Ombrellaro, vascular surgeon, discussing "Vascular Causes for Leg Pain." The lecture is at 7 p.m. in the BP Design Theater.

On Wednesday, June 10, the Discover Alaska lecture series will feature Angela Schmidt, film archivist, with a talk on "Moving Pictures, Moving Stories: What Our Film Archives Reveal." The lecture is at 7 p.m. in the BP Design Theater.

On Thursday, June 11, the Music in the Garden concert series will feature the UAF Music Academy at 6 p.m. and Ryan Bowers and the Brain Trust at 7:30 p.m. at UAF's Georgeson Botanical Garden.
All events are free and open to the public. Parking on the UAF Troth Yeddha' Campus is free after 5 p.m.
