As the holiday season gears up and the City of West Hollywood prepares to welcome visitors and patrons to the Rainbow District, the City is enhancing public safety resources and increasing its visible safety presence throughout the area.
Public safety is a core value of the City of West Hollywood and remains the City's highest priority. The City and its public safety partners are committed to maintaining a safe, welcoming, and respectful environment in the Rainbow District and throughout West Hollywood.
As part of these enhanced efforts, the City and the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department (LASD) have been coordinating additional public safety resources in the Rainbow District, expanding the City's Neighborhood and Business Safety/Code Enforcement presence, and deploying additional unarmed private security personnel. These proactive measures are intended to provide a highly visible safety presence, deter disruptive behavior, support businesses and patrons, and ensure resources are positioned to respond effectively when needed.
The City has also added unarmed Entertainment Safety Officers (ESOs) to provide an additional level of visible security in the Rainbow District. Unarmed ESOs are equipped with select security tools for use in accordance with applicable policies, training, and protocols. These personnel help monitor activity, identify potential safety concerns, support de-escalation when appropriate, and coordinate with the West Hollywood Sheriff's Station, the Community Safety Department, and other public safety personnel.
These resources supplement the West Hollywood Sheriff's Station's existing Entertainment Policing Team (EPT), a specialized unit focused on nightlife, entertainment establishments, and alcohol-related activity. Supplemental LASD Deputies will provide additional support during periods of increased activity and contribute to a strong and visible law enforcement presence in the district.
The City's Security Ambassadors also continue to provide a highly visible, unarmed presence throughout West Hollywood, including in the Rainbow District. Security Ambassadors conduct foot and bicycle patrols, assist with non-violent calls for service, provide safety escorts, and support residents, businesses, employees, and visitors with quality-of-life and safety concerns.
The City of West Hollywood is home to a vibrant mix of restaurants, bars, lounges, nightclubs, entertainment venues, and other businesses that contribute to the City's nightlife, culture, and local economy.
The City remains committed to supporting public safety across West Hollywood's diverse entertainment districts, with security resources continuously assessed and deployed throughout the City.
During the holiday season, increased activity throughout the district makes continued coordination among businesses, law enforcement, City staff, and other public safety partners especially important. The City works closely with local businesses and public safety partners to promote responsible nightlife operations, address community concerns, and support a safe and enjoyable experience for everyone who lives, works, and visits in West Hollywood.
Community members play an important role in helping keep West Hollywood safe. The City encourages residents, businesses, employees, and visitors to follow the principle of "If You See Something, Say Something."
