Update: Victim of Jan. 18 shooting on Ridgemont Court dies

At about 8:15 p.m. on Jan. 18, Columbia Police responded to a shots-fired call at the 1400 block of Ridgemont Court. Officers arrived on the scene and located a male victim with life-threatening gunshot wounds.

Officers provided medical treatment until emergency medical services arrived and transported the victim to a local hospital. The victim was identified as Michael Ryan Burke, 42, of Columbia, who later died of injuries sustained in the shooting. Next of kin have been notified.

Columbia Police have detained multiple individuals regarding this homicide investigation. Additional details will be released at a later time. This is an active and ongoing investigation.
