Multi-Platinum Singer-Songwriter Previews Forthcoming Acoustic Collection Out Later This Year
April 16, 2026 (NEW YORK, NY) - Today, multi-platinum, 4X Grammy-nominated singer-songwriter and visual artist Jewel released her new single, "Upon Meeting the Goddess of Love." Marking the beginning of a new chapter, the song offers a glimpse into the forthcoming collection due later this year, featuring stripped-down acoustic arrangements that recall the intimacy and emotional clarity of Jewel's landmark debut Pieces of You- one of the best-selling debut albums of all time. Listen to "Upon Meeting the Goddess of Love" HERE .
Amid a renewed sense of nostalgia for the 1990s in pop culture, Jewel has been revisiting Pieces of You with a daily social media series . Each day, she's been sharing raw, acoustic performances of songs from the album, reconnecting with the material in its original form.
"There's something powerful about simplicity. This song strips everything back to the raw emotion and storytelling that first made me fall in love with music," Jewel shares. "Whether through my music or visual art, I'm always trying to create spaces where people can feel, reflect, and reconnect with themselves. This song is part of that larger journey, an invitation to slow down and listen inward."
"Upon Meeting the Goddess of Love" also traces back to Jewel's expanding work as a visual artist. The song was first introduced as part of her debut museum exhibition, The Portal: An Art Experience by Jewel, at Crystal Bridges Museum of American Art, an immersive installation exploring the intersection of art, music, technology, and mental health. The experience blended original artwork, sound, and guided reflection, offering audiences a space for introspection and connection. You can read more about The Portal in ELLE , W Magazine , and CNN .
The single's artwork continues that creative throughline, featuring a painting by Jewel that will be included in her upcoming exhibition, Matriclysm: An Archeology of Connections Lost, opening in Venice this May. Opening May 6 and on view through November 22, the exhibition will include immersive, multisensory works incorporating original music and sound design by Jewel, further underscoring her expansive creative vision across disciplines.
Presented in association with Crystal Bridges Museum of American Art and running concurrently with the 2026 Venice Biennale, Matriclysm: An Archeology of Connections Lost marks the largest presentation of Jewel's visual art to date. The exhibition finds her working across painting, sculpture, textiles, installation, and sound, examining feminine power alongside humanity's increasingly frayed relationship to nature.
A centerpiece of the exhibition is Heart of the Ocean, an eight-foot kinetic sculpture that translates real-time oceanographic data into sound and light-created in collaboration with scientists from NASA, NOAA, Stanford University, and UC Berkeley-effectively transforming environmental data into a living instrument played by nature itself. You can read more about the exhibition in ARTnews and artnet .
With "Upon Meeting the Goddess of Love," Jewel bridges past and present, returning to the stripped-back storytelling that defined her early career while expanding her voice into new artistic dimensions.
