Through mid-November, the City is using a mapping tool to ask residents to contribute their thoughts as part of Garland Forward, the City's process to a new Comprehensive Plan.
Know of a corridor or intersection that could be improved? An open space that needs attention? Or a spot in your neighborhood that could support new housing options or a neighborhood-scale business? Share your ideas on how to make it better, what changes you'd like to see or how to make our community and your neighborhood more welcoming. Or mark a place you love in Garland and tell us what makes it special.
You can add pins in six categories: Mobility & Connectivity; Neighborhoods & Housing; Corridors; Parks & Public Spaces; Environment and Infrastructure; and Community Assets & Ideas. A tutorial video is embedded to help with the process.
A comprehensive plan identifies goals, polices and strategies for the growth and development of our community. Funding for Garland's new comprehensive plan was approved by the City Council in the 2023-24 budget. Verdunity, a Texas-based planning, engineering and community engagement firm, is working with us on the plan update.
This type of plan addresses demographic shifts, including population growth, to ensure development decisions remain responsive to our community needs, and confirms infrastructure investments that support the City's growth and improve the quality of life for residents.
