RALEIGH, N.C. - On September 22, 2026, a federal grand jury returned an indictment charging Robert Page, 52, of Cumberland County, with attempted carjacking, carjacking, discharging a gun in furtherance of carjacking, and possessing a gun by a convicted felon.
According to the first charge, Page tried to steal a Toyota 4Runner from two victims who were sitting at a Hardees drive-thru while intending to kill or seriously injure them. One victim suffered serious injuries during the attempted carjacking.
In the second charge, the Grand Jury found probable cause Page stole a Chevrolet Malibu from another victim that same day, again acting with the intent to kill or seriously injure. That victim also suffered serious bodily injury.
The third charge alleges that Page fired a gun, shooting a female, during the carjacking of the Chevrolet Malibu.
The fourth indictment states that Page, a convicted felon, illegally possessed a gun on August 30, 2026.
The events leading to Page's indictment took place on the morning of August 30, 2026. That morning, Page took part in a domestic shooting in Cumberland County. He then attempted to carjack two victims and stole their Toyota 4Runner. During the attempt, he pulled out a handgun and shot one of the victims as she sat inside the vehicle; the bullet passed through her arm and into her chest. Page fled to a nearby parking lot, where he carjacked another victim by shooting her at point-blank range and taking the keys to her Chevrolet Malibu. By the grace of God, all three victims survived being shot at close range. After the third shooting, law enforcement located Page driving a Ford Focus in Fayetteville and pulled him over. Page exited the car and surrendered, leaving a handgun on the driver's seat.
If convicted, Page faces up to 25 years in prison for attempting to carjack the Toyota 4Runner and for carjacking the Chevrolet Malibu. He also faces a mandatory minimum of 10 years and up to life in prison for firing a gun during the carjacking of the Chevrolet Malibu, and up to 15 years in federal prison for possessing a firearm as a convicted felon.
Ellis Boyle, U.S. Attorney for the Eastern District of North Carolina, made the announcement. The ATF is investigating the case.
An indictment is merely an accusation. The defendant is presumed innocent until proven guilty.
