Jet Wing Drive at South Academy Boulevard will close from 7 a.m. Thursday, Oct. 15, through 5 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 17, so crews can inspect a sewer pipe that is more than 50 years old. The work is part of the South Academy Boulevard Improvements Project.
The closure will not block nearby driveways. Residents, employees and customers can reach Jet Wing Drive from Hancock Expressway. The project team has worked with Colorado Springs Fire Department Station 11 to maintain emergency access during the closure.
Detours during the Jet Wing Drive closure:
Drivers should slow down, follow posted signs, watch for workers and equipment, and allow extra travel time. Drivers are encouraged to use alternate routes when possible. All work is weather-dependent and schedules may change.
This voter-approved Pikes Peak Rural Transportation Authority project will improve safety, traffic flow, pedestrian access and drainage along the corridor. It is the first major reconstruction of South Academy Boulevard since it opened in 1969.
