NEWS RELEASE: Senator Ashley Moody & Senator Marsha Blackburn Join Forces to Protect Federal Law Enforcement Officers from Doxxing

WASHINGTON, D.C.-Today, as ICE agents are facing a skyrocketing number of assaults, Senator Ashley Moody announced she is joining Senator Marsha Blackburn to cosponsor the Protecting Law Enforcement from Doxxing Act. This legislation is in response to the dangerous actions of state and local officials using taxpayer-funded offices to publicly release the names of officers with the intent of obstructing their official duties. These actions put the agents at higher risk of being targeted by criminal gangs, including MS-13 and Tren De Aragua.

Senator Ashley Moody said, "As the wife of a law enforcement officer and the former Attorney General in the great state of Florida, I know it is vitally important to protect those who put their lives on the line every day to protect us all. While radical city and state leaders focus less on the safety of their citizens and more on demonizing law enforcement, it is critical that we, as leaders, stand up and back the blue. I urge my colleagues to pass the Protecting Law Enforcement from Doxxing Act."

Senator Marsha Blackburn said, "Radical leftists are doing everything they can to obstruct the Trump administration's efforts to deport criminal illegal aliens and enforce the rule of law. The Protecting Law Enforcement from Doxxing Act would make it illegal to dox federal law enforcement and hold blue city mayors accountable for obstructing enforcement of our immigration laws and putting law enforcement officers in harm's way."

THE PROTECTING LAW ENFORCEMENT FROM DOXXING ACT

  • The Protecting Law Enforcement from Doxxing Act would make it illegal to publish the name of a federal law enforcement officer with the intent to obstruct a criminal investigation or immigration operation.
  • Under this legislation, an individual found guilty of doxxing a federal law enforcement officer would face a fine and/or imprisonment of five years.
