The President of the Republic of Poland signed the first of the laws implementing the DSA

President Karol Nawrocki signed a law partially implementing part EU's Digital Services Act (DSA). Mirosław Wróblewski, the President of the Personal Data Protection, has previously urged for this implementation.

The implementation of the EU Digital Services Act aims to complement the provisions of the GDPR in such a way as to ensure the highest level of protection of fundamental rights in the digital space. The main objective is to create a safer online environment in which the fundamental rights of all users, including the right to freedom of expression, are protected.

Mirosław Wróblewski, President of the Personal Data Protection Office, requested the President of the Republic of Poland to support solutions protecting Internet users; in particular children and young people (more: https://uodo.gov.pl/en/138/4580).

The Act of 4 September 2026 amending the Act on the provision of electronic services and certain other acts adjusts functioning of Polish institutions to the requirements of the DSA. It states that the main authority overseeing the application of the new rules will be the President of the Office of Electronic Communications, who will act as the Digital Services Coordinator. It also introduces rules on administrative fines to be imposed on providers of intermediary services that do not comply with their obligations under the DSA.
