RCMP Respond to Motor Vehicle Collision

At approximately 10:47 a.m., St. Albert RCMP responded to a motor vehicle collision at the intersection of Sir Winston Churchill Avenue and Perron Street.

A vehicle travelling eastbound on Sir Winston Churchill Avenue proceeded through a red light and struck a vehicle travelling southbound on Perron Street, causing the southbound vehicle to roll onto its side.

Two occupants of the southbound vehicle were trapped inside. Members of the public quickly responded and provided medical assistance to the occupants until emergency services arrived.

The occupants were treated by EMS at the scene and were not transported to hospital.

The driver of the eastbound vehicle was charged under Section 54(1) of the Use of Highway and Rules of the Road Regulation, pursuant to the Traffic Safety Act, for failing to stop at an intersection when facing a red light.
