After the Palisades and Franklin Fires, the City of Malibu is committed to making the rebuild process faster, clearer, and easier so homeowners can rebuild as quickly and safely as possible. The Community Development Department led by Director Yolanda Bundy has been holding working meetings with local building professionals and homeowners to to gather feedback, track progress, and improve the rebuild process. The City is continuing the meeting series with Design Professionals Meetings October 2, December 3, and November 13; and Fire Rebuild Community Sessions October 15, November 18, December 11, and January 14. Meeting details will be posted on the Rebuild website.
ZONE CAPTAINS MEETINGS
On September 22, Mayor Marianne Riggins, Councilmember Haylynn Conrad, Interim City Manager Candace Bond, and Deputy City Manager Richard Rojas joined Community Development Director Yolanda Bundy for the weekly meeting with the Fire Rebuild Zone Captains. Director Bundy shared updates on more upcoming rebuild meetings with building professionals and residents, and discussed challenges and feedback from the residents of those zones to keep track of their progress, identify ways to improve the process, and offer assistance. The City thanks the Zone Captains for their service to their fellow residents and to helping improve the City's rebuild efforts.

Find Your Rebuild Zone Captain
The City established a system of Zone Captains to represent homeowners in each section of the Franklin and Palisades Fire areas. They share information with homeowners about the City's new development portal tools, simplified planning materials, and faster review processes, and gather feedback from homeowners to bring back to the City Rebuild Team for additional assistance and to help improve the process.
TECHNICAL SESSION ON COASTAL AND GEOTECHNICAL GUIDELINES FOR FIRE REBUILDS
On September 9, more than 60 coastal and geotechnical experts joined the City's technical session on strengthening standards for beachfront fire rebuilds. The discussion was attended by City leadership and provided valuable insights to guide future improvements. The Community Development Department has been holding regular work sessions with building professionals and specialists to integrate their specific, local expertise into the rebuild process to help improve the process, so that we can help residents rebuild their homes as quickly and safety as possible.

REBUILD WORKING SESSION WITH LOCAL BUILDING PROFESSIONALS
On September 10, Community Development Director Yolanda Bundy and the Rebuild staff met with 40 local design professionals to present quicker review timelines, simplified applications, and expanded support through the Malibu Rebuild Center. The team also gathered feedback from homeowners to identify challenges and ways to further improve the process. Malibu is committed to helping residents, design professionals, and community leaders achieve a smoother, more efficient path to rebuilding. The City is proud to lead with innovation, collaboration, and community support to ensure every family has the best path forward to rebuilding.
