Jakarta, 27 October 2026 - OCBC Sharia Business Unit (UUS OCBC), recently celebrated its 17th anniversary, continues to demonstrate its commitment to providing the best sharia financial services for customers. Along with the growing public interest towards investment, UUS OCBC continues to strengthen its sharia-based wealth management capabilities by enhancing accessibility to asset growth services and continuous social contribution.
The 2026 Financial Fitness Index (FFI) research shows that digital gold ownership has reached 4% and will continue to grow, amidst the downward trend in physical gold ownership. Gold has become a popular alternative asset for diversification to protect wealth from inflation impact. Noting its potential, UUS presents Gold Savings feature in OCBC Mobile, simplifying access for customers to purchase digital gold as an investment instrument that is aligned with Sharia principles.
Head of OCBC Sharia Business Unit, Mahendra Koesumawardhana, stated, "The public needs for sharia-based wealth management solution is no longer just about growing assets. It is more on how banks can deliver added value and facilitate the customers to make sustainable social contributions."
Thus, UUS OCBC enhances OCBC Premier Banking with Sharia Solution to assist customers in managing finance according to sharia values, through a selection of sharia-based products, beyond banking and sharia lifestyle services, as well as spiritual privileges such as direct waqf contributions.
Within Semester I/2026, UUS OCBC partnered with a trusted waqf institution, channeling waqf funds on behalf of OCBC Premier Banking customers. The funds are used for developing clean water facilities in Lombok, West Nusa Tenggara, educational facilities at SD Juara East Jakarta, and school facility renovations in Talegong District, Garut Regency.
These various initiatives and Sharia wealth solutions received several recognitions in Semester I/2026, including:
In addition to gold and waqf solutions, UUS OCBC also supports social and spiritual contributions such as paying zakat and sadaqah (alms) through OCBC Mobile. This feature integrates financial needs and social contributions into daily banking activities so customers can fulfill obligations and make good deeds more easily and practically.
