On the occasion of the National Day of Made in Italy, celebrated each year on 15 April (the anniversary of the birth of Leonardo da Vinci), the Embassy of Italy in Prague organised an event dedicated to promoting Italian know-how in the fields of architecture, design and urban regeneration.
The initiative - organised in collaboration with Generali Real Estate and with the support of the Italian Cultural Institute of Prague, the Italian Trade Agency (ITA) and the Italian-Czech Chamber of Commerce and Industry (CAMIC) - was opened by Ambassador Alessandro Gaudiano, who described urban regeneration as one of the most pressing and at the same time most stimulating challenges of our time. He highlighted how the Italian experience has fostered an approach based on the integration of innovative design and historical-architectural heritage.
The theme of urban regeneration showcases Italy's expertise, grounded in projects that have enabled the emergence of new cultural hubs and centres of innovation, contributing to the functional and social revitalisation of entire urban areas while preserving their historical character. This approach is particularly relevant for cities characterised by a significant historical and architectural heritage, such as Prague.
Also speaking at the event were the Head of the of the Central and Eastern Europe (CEE) Region at Generali Real Estate, Ramon Spoladore, and the Head of Engineering & Project Management at Generali Real Estate, Paolo Micucci. The focus of the event was on the redevelopment project of the Kotva shopping centre in Prague, a case study highlighting the contribution of Italian professionals and brands to the renovation of an iconic building, which is set to reopen to the public in 2027, and to the revitalisation of the surrounding urban area.
