Escambia County Collects 330,000 Cubic Yards of Hurricane Debris So Far

Hurricane Isaias debris removal is well underway in Escambia County, with county crews and contractors out collecting debris since Monday, Oct. 12 following the storm. To date, county contractors have collected over 7,400 loads of hurricane debris totaling approximately 330,000 cubic yards, not including additional debris collected by county staff.

Escambia County currently has approximately 236 units out collecting throughout the county, in addition to 40 bucket trucks to assist with tree removal.

The total amount of vegetative debris to be collected countywide from Hurricane Isaias is estimated at approximately 2.2 million cubic yards.

Escambia County appreciates the public's patience as crews work to collect all hurricane debris as safely and efficiently as possible. Crews will make several passes to collect all debris, so residents can keep placing debris curbside if everything is not collected on the first pass.

Escambia County will make an announcement prior to the final pass for debris collection, so residents are encouraged to monitor myescambia.com or the Escambia County Facebook page for updates. Escambia County residents with questions about hurricane debris collection are encouraged to call 850-332-1226 to reach the debris pickup call center, which is open daily from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m.
