Taught by Mike Campagna, a criminal justice researcher with more than 15 years of experience working with law enforcement, corrections, and behavioral health professionals to improve our justice system.

"One of my favorite parts of my job is helping practitioners connect their day-to-day experiences with scientific research, while also helping students and the public better understand the people and challenges within the justice system.

That's why I'm excited to offer Biosocial Criminology this fall. Criminal justice has traditionally explained behavior through social and psychological theories, and those perspectives remain important in the field. This course expands on those ideas by exploring how biology also contributes to human behavior. We'll discuss how trauma, brain development, mental health, family relationships, genetics, and life experiences interact to shape the choices people make, and what that means for criminal justice policy, rehabilitation, and evidence-based practice."
