August 10, 2026 ยท Supporting education, workforce--and having fun
There's no bad way to enjoy summer golf in Maine, but we think one of the best is to play Educate Maine's Golf Classic, at the gorgeous Nonesuch River Club. This week 80-plus players-educators, business supporters and many happy friends and relations-brought sunshine and freshening breezes with them to the annual outing on the challenging, but friendly track in Scarborough.
Sponsored by Energy Efficient Investments, Inc. and many other local businesses, the Golf Classic supports education and workforce programs across Maine, including the Teach Maine Center, the Maine Mobile BIOLAB and Maine Career Catalyst, to name a few.
"It's a good cause, but more importantly it's a fun competition," remarked one of the educators out there playing with friends. "Every year we come ready to play, and win."
That "friendly competition" in scramble-style play resulted in some impressive scores; some as low as 54 on the par-70 course. But it extended beyond drives and putts: some teams put real effort into their golf attire with matching outfits.
Winner of Best Dressed Team: Crushing It, who had matching golf shirts made for the occasion (see photo).
