The Italian Ambassador to Buenos Aires, Fabrizio Lucentini, celebrated the second Italian Sports Day in the World together with the Italian Alpine Ski Team that was protagonist of a thrilling and engaging event.
In the evocative setting of Cerro Castor, in Ushuaia, Tierra del Fuego, where Italian athletes train for the 2026 Milan-Cortina Olympics, the Ambassador welcomed a large representation of the Italian community living at the "fin del mundo", along with local authorities and many young people excited to meet the Italian national team.
Champions Marta Bassino, Elena Curtoni, and Laura Pirovano, and champions Alex Vinatzer and Luca De Aliprandini, spoke with the Ambassador and the audience to share aspects of their lives both inside and outside of competitions. The Italian team, along with other athletes, coaches, and officials, then met with those present in an atmosphere of closeness and sharing.
Particular emphasis was placed on the Milan-Cortina 2026 Olympic and Paralympic Games, emphasizing their sporting, promotional, and economic value for Italy and the entire world, which will soon be competing in Italian facilities.
Following last year's similar event, the event once again provided an important opportunity to showcase one of the most successful realities in Italian sport, placing Italian skiing at the basis of the bonds of friendship between Italy and Argentina.
Ambassador Lucentini also shared with those present a moment of emotional remembrance for the recent and tragic passing of Italian skier Matteo Franzoso, joining the condolences of the Foreign Ministry, Italian institutions, and the entire sports world.
The event was organized by the Italian Embassy in Buenos Aires, in collaboration with the Italian Winter Sports Federation, the Consulate General of Italy in Bahia Blanca, the Italian Cultural Institute in Buenos Aires, and the Honorary Consular Agency in Ushuaia.
