City Council invites community engagement: Volunteer for Colorado Springs Boards, Commissions, and Committees

Colorado Springs City Council is calling upon passionate individuals to play a pivotal role in shaping the future of our vibrant city. We are seeking dedicated volunteers to serve on various Boards, Commissions, and Committees essential to our community's growth and development.

Opportunities to Volunteer

Airport Advisory Commission

The Airport Advisory Commission address matters pertaining to land use, construction, planning or operation of the Colorado Springs Airport. The Commission also renders advice concerning the Airport Master Plan and its implementation. Additionally, the Commission may act in an advisory capacity to the El Paso County Planning Commission and the El Paso Board of County Commissioners.

  • Meeting Time - 4th Wednesday of every month at 3:00 p.m.
  • Vacancy - Alternate Member/s

Audit Committee

Assists City Auditor and advises City Council on matters relating to City's fiscal soundness and other matters. They may provide direct assistance with approval of City Council.

  • Meeting Time - 3rd Thursday of every month at 12:00 p.m.
  • Vacancy - Alternate Member/s

Independent Ethics Commission

The IEC reviews complaints and inquires for consideration concerning the City Code of Ethics involving the following covered persons: elected officials; administrative officers (under City Charter § 13-10, the City Attorney, City Clerk, City Treasurer, City Auditor, Chief of Staff, and all department heads are the administrative officers of the City); Municipal Court Judges; and members of boards, committees, or commissions appointed by City Council, the President of Council, or the Mayor.

  • Meeting Time - Meetings occur for the committee as needed.

Initiative Review Committee

The Initiative Review Committee reviews, comments on, and offers advisory opinions on initiated municipal election issues.

  • Meeting Time - Meetings occur for the committee as needed.

Downtown Review Board

The Downtown Review Board members meet monthly to review downtown development applications using the Downtown Colorado Springs Form-Based Code regulating plan.

Interested applicants are encouraged to review the Downtown Form-Based Zone Boundaries prior to applying.

  • Meeting Time - 1st Tuesday of every month at 9:00 a.m.
  • Vacancy - One (1) Voting Member who is a Downtown Form-Based Zone Property Owner

Stormwater Advisory Committee

The Stormwater Advisory Committee provides City Council with citizen input on the stormwater system and operation of the enterprise, along with advice and recommendations on the projects to be undertaken.

  • Meeting Time - Meets Quarterly every 3rd Thursday of the month at 2:00 p.m.
  • Vacancy - One (1) Voting Member who owns and resides in a single-family residence within the City limit
