EVANSVILLE, Ind. - April 13, 2026 - The City of Evansville recently launched its digital Climate Action Dashboard, an interactive tool designed to track progress on the goals outlined in its 2025 Climate Action Plan. Developed in collaboration with ClimateNav, a startup that helps local governments decarbonize and build more sustainable communities, the dashboard serves as a central hub for monitoring key metrics while also linking residents and businesses to relevant programs and resources.
"We're taking thoughtful steps to build a cleaner, greener, and more resilient Evansville by improving energy efficiency, expanding walking paths, and making smart investments that enhance quality of life," said Mayor Terry. "This dashboard helps us track progress and make informed decisions."
Funded through a U.S. Department of Energy Efficiency and Conservation Block Grant, the interactive dashboard provides a comprehensive view of the city's efforts to reduce its carbon emissions, along with a detailed snapshot of emissions across five key sectors: energy, transportation, land, waste, and resilience. Users can explore historical emissions data and compare projections under different scenarios, including business-as-usual versus implementation of Climate Action Plan strategies.
The dashboard highlights actionable ways for residents and businesses to take part in local sustainability efforts, from embracing public transit and upgrading to energy-efficient appliances to completing a home energy assessment. Users can also discover sustainability programs and initiatives that the city is taking to ensure a more sustainable and resilient Evansville.
In 2025, the City of Evansville launched a Climate Action Plan aimed at reducing community-wide greenhouse gas emissions by 30% by 2030 compared to a 2023 baseline and by 80% by 2050 compared to a 2017 baseline. This new dashboard strengthens the city's ability to track progress toward these goals by monitoring key sustainability metrics across the city's various departments, such as the number of solar systems on municipal facilities or the number of native trees planted
"The Climate Action Dashboard is a tool that anyone can use to engage in the conversation and take action," said Lauren Lynch, Director of the Evansville Climate Collaborative. "We can all contribute in some way to a more sustainable and resilient community."
