Santa Fe, NM, has been named one of the nation's first-ever International Mountain Bicycling Association Trail Towns. The IMBA selected 28 communities across the country for this inaugural designation, recognizing leadership in trail development, stewardship, and community engagement.
"This recognition affirms what our residents and visitors have long known: Santa Fe is a world-class destination for mountain biking," Mayor Michael Garcia said. "As an inaugural Trail Town, we are honored to help set the standard for how communities can embrace outdoor recreation, protect natural landscapes, and grow a vibrant, sustainable economy around our trails."
This national recognition highlights Santa Fe's commitment to:
• Expanding and maintaining high-quality trail systems
• Supporting outdoor recreation and local economic growth
• Promoting healthy, active lifestyles
In 2024 alone, the outdoor recreation economy generated $1.3 trillion nationally and supported 5.2 million jobs, underscoring the growing impact of communities that invest in trails.
