Washington, D.C. - Today, Reps. John B. Larson (CT-01), Joe Courtney (CT-02), Rosa DeLauro (CT-03), and Jim Himes (CT-04), and Senators Richard Blumenthal and Chris Murphy, announced a $10,855,000,000 contract award from the United States Marine Corps to Sikorsky Aircraft Corp for the procurement of up to 99 new CH-53K helicopters, with work to be performed from 2029-2034:
"Sikorsky has built the finest helicopters in the world since opening its doors over a century ago - all proudly made here in Connecticut," the members said. "We are proud to announce this new $10.855 billion contract, which will provide a major boost for the Connecticut economy and strengthen our national defense. Sikorsky and its suppliers are critical linchpins in our state's advanced manufacturing base, and generations of skilled, dedicated labor from Connecticut workers has enabled these companies to consistently compete for and win these valuable contracts. This order will support high-paying jobs both at Sikorsky and throughout its supply chain, and we will continue to fight as a delegation for the funding and authorizations that enable these contracts and the jobs they create."
Final assembly of the CH-53K and certain other work are performed at the Sikorsky plant in Stratford, CT. The authorization for the multiyear contract was included in the Fiscal Year 2025 House Appropriations Committee Defense bill and in the 2025 National Defense Authorization Act.
